David Z. Morris, Ph.D.
Our founder and Editor In Chief is a veteran finance and technology reporter, analyst, and historian. He was part of the team at Coindesk that helped bring Sam Bankman-Fried to justice. He is also a former staff reporter for Fortune and Breaker Magazine, and his work on crypto, artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and other topics has also appeared in The Atlantic, Slate, Aeon, and the Japan Times.
Before turning to journalism, David was a sociologist of technology, studying the impact of new tools on human culture. He holds a PhD from the University of Iowa, where he studied with John Durham Peters, Tim Havens, Mark Andrejevic, and Kembrew McLeod. His scholarly work has appeared in top-tier journals and received multiple awards, including from the Modern Language Association. He has served in research and teaching roles at Tokyo University of Fine Arts (Geidai) and the University of South Florida.
